From desk to dinner date with Hale Bob

Jul 16, 2013

Today's outfit post is a little different than my usual posts. This month on Lucky Mag's blog, the theme is "Girl on the go." I love this theme because everyone knows the feeling of having to dash out after work for an event, date, whatever. I'm constantly leaving the office at the end of the day to head over to fashion and blogger events around the city, happy hour with girlfriends and dinner dates with my man, without time to stop at home and change before. So I'm showing you how I transition my outfit from day time meetings to night time dates. This Hale Bob dress is absolutely perfect for this theme, as you can flip it around and wear it backwards for a different look and feel. And the print is so versatile—perfect for dressing up or down.

For my day time look...

Dress ~ c/o Hale Bob
Blazer ~ J.Crew
Shoes ~ DSW
Earrings ~ Kate Spade
Purse ~ Chanel

For my day time, meeting-appropriate look, I wore the Hale Bob dress frontwards (is "frontwards" the opposite of "backwards?") with a fitted blazer, conservative closed-toed pumps and black stud earrings. When I'm getting down to business, I tend to wear my hair up in a bun. It keeps it out of my face, makes me look more mature and helps me feel more professional. Added bonus, when I undo my hair after it's been in a bun like this all day, it's wavy and bouncy.

For my night time look...

Shoes ~ Boutique in Amsterdam
Purse ~ Chanel
Bracelets ~ c/o Shopbevel
Earrings ~ Forever 21

For my night time look, I let my hair down (literally), flipped the Hale Bob dress around so the back was in the front with a lower v-neckline, switched to edgier shoes and spiced up the jewelry department with neon bracelets and dangling black earrings. A classic like a Chanel bag can easily transition from day to night.

You may have seen Hale Bob's pieces in stores like Nordstrom, and on celebrities like Heidi Klum, Cameron Diaz and Salma Hayek. I'm currently pretty obsessed with the Hale Bob summer pleated jersey dress I'm wearing in today's post. The amazing print (they design their own, you know), feminine and flirty fit, and versatility make it an awesome desk to dinner date dress. I wanna know, how do you take your outfit from day time to night time when you have to jet somewhere after work? #onthego #luckymag

  2. Very pretty dress - and like the idea of switching from front to back, or the other way round! Still don't know how you girls can walk about on those stilts, though!

  4. Elise this dress is so pretty! I love the effortless transition from day to night! The first one is definitely more professional and work appropriate and the second one is fun and flirty! It's so funny how much of a difference hair and a change of shoes makes!
