Things just got teal

Stacked beaded bracelet ~ Hipanema
Brown bracelet ~ Target
Shoes ~ Charles Jourdan

Somehow, Nicole manages to convince me to squeeze into her tiny dresses. She does have some awesome Free People dresses, and how could I resist my favorite color, teal? It's sort of hard to not love everything in Free People's catalogs. I mean, who even uses catalogs these days? Free People's and Anthropolgie's are probably the only ones I actually still flip through. Side note, I just realized today that FP and Anthropologie are both under the Urban Outfitters umbrella, and now my world makes so much more sense.

So clearly I wasn't kidding when I told you earlier this week that I really love this structured skirt. I realize this makes for two posts in one week with this skirt, but I just couldn't help myself. It's my new golden child. These pictures were taken in Seattle at the Chihuly Garden and Glass exhibit. If you have the chance to go, you must! It's incredible. The red pillars and the giant green structure behind me are all made of glass. I'll be posting photos of all the other glass art we saw there soon.

Seattle reminds me of San Francisco in a lot of ways, like the fact that the weather is a tad moody. It was a beautiful day for my cousin's wedding, and then poured the next day. When we were outside exploring the Chihuly Garden, we heard the loudest thunderclap we've ever experienced. Freaked. Me. Out.

The earlier look I posted with this skirt was sweet and feminine. I toughed today's look up a bit with the faux-leather jacket, and quilted boots. People kept asking me for directions, so clearly I was pulling off some sort of edgy Seattle style.

BeauCoo

Sep 24, 2013

Hello, lovelies! I wanted to share with you a site that I’ve recently joined and have become a big fan of…

BeauCoo is a body-positive style network where you can share your most recent fashion finds and steal style tips from like-minded ladies. You can browse a gallery of self-submitted photos and check out what other stylish chickies are wearing and where you might be able to snag it. My favorite part of BeauCoo? They take my (confidential ;)) body measurements and show me gals with similar body types so I can really see how a garment would look on my body. When you upload an outfit, you can describe each item and share comments so that others can learn about the fit of the garment.

beaucoo

So BeauCoo basically lets you find clothes that fit and flatter your body type, without even having to try on pieces. And when I see a piece that looks great on someone with a body similar to mine, I know it’ll be flattering on me too. Take for example the pencil skirt in the above photo. I found it when I was exploring BeauCoo’s Fit Match section, and added it to my favorites. The following week, I was running a quick errand at Target (I was there to pick up a bookshelf, but clearly I got sucked in to the clothes section) and I saw a similar skirt with side paneling. I tried it on and lo and behold, it looked fantastic. Outfit post with my new skirt coming soon!

Another reason to love BeauCoo? The community and body positivity. One of my favorite things about blogging is the community. The friends I’ve made and the talented people I’ve met from blogging make everything so much more fun! And as my blog has evolved, so has my style. It’s really helped me learn how to dress for my small waist, curvaceous hips, hourglass of a body. I don’t have a bod that everything looks good on (boxy crop tops, get away from me), but I do have a bod that when dressed with the right silhouettes, can look pretty great (if I do say so myself). So it’s really fun for me to be able to share outfits I’ve found to be really flattering on me with other gals that have similar dimensions, and likewise, to find inspiration from what other chicks with my body type have found to look great on them.

beaucoo app

And BeauCoo is not just on your web browser. There’s also an app available for free on the App Store and Google Play. Now go get your #BoPo on. Be sure to add me when you join!

Thanks to BeauCoo for sponsoring this post!

I am seriously in love with this structured, striped skirt. The shape of it is so fun and unique, and every time I wear it I literally get stopped on the street by people asking me where I got it and complimenting it. Funny story about this skirt: I wore it to Autodesk's Design Night and a young woman came up to me, complimented the skirt and asked where I got it. When I told her it was from a fashion subscription service she asked if it was LE TOTE. I said it was. Turns out she works there!

Jia and I shot these photos on an incredibly windy day. I'm sure I inadvertently flashed a few innocent bystanders, and for that good people of San Francisco, I apologize. But those wind-in-the-hair shots are just too tempting!

Jennifer and I shot our outfits the last day in Vegas. It was a sweltering 100 degrees out, so an iced coffee was definitely in order, since we didn't have time to jump in the pool before catching our flights home. The fun mani was courtesy of Butter London's nail bar in ENKVegas. Then we hopped over to WWDMagic, where BCBGeneration had a fab sky lounge where you could get your hair and nails done. Scratch added these fun "love letters" decals on top of my blue mani.

It wouldn't be a trip to Vegas without spending some time in the casino. I'm not a huge gambler, so I consider winning $20 playing roulette a thrill. Jennifer and I got dressed up for a night out, hit the casino for a bit, and then hopped over to MGM for Hudson Jeans' party with Nas! Thanks to Hudson Jeans for the invite!

Anyone who knows me knows that I love a dress with a fitted waist and a flared skirt. It's just so feminine and pretty, not to mention comfortable. This denim dress is from The Factory, a great boutique in the SoMa area of San Francisco, and is part of their Americana collection. Since this collection is all about bringing casual chic to the great outdoors, I thought a shoot in the woods of beautiful Tahoe would be perfect. We were staying in a cabin over Labor Day Weekend with friends, and I took the opportunity to snap some photos in my new favorite dress.

P.S. I looked up at our cabin in the middle of shooting this outfit post and this was totally happening.
