Wedding Wednesday: Popping the question to your bridesmaids

May 29, 2014

Wedding planning is in full swing and the first thing on our list is to find a venue—the hunt is on! I also wanted to come up with a fun way to ask my bridesmaids to be in my bridal party. I'm not particularly crafty (as evidenced by the fact that I have't done a solid DIY post in over a year—yikes!) so it needed to be something that was simple, but would still feel special. Ok, so I cheated a little bit and put my fiance's graphic design skills to use.

I came up with the concept and text and Omied designed these cards that I printed out for my bridesmaids. One side reads, "I can't tie the knot without you by my side. Will you be my bridesmaid?" and the other side has something cute and sassy and wedding/bridesmaid related on it. I also sent each bridesmaid a dainty gold ring, tied in a knot (get it??). The rings are from my favorite jewelry boutique in San Francisco, Azil

*If you'd like to print out some or all of these cards for your bridesmaids, go right ahead! I've included links at the bottom where you can download each one as a PDF.*

A huge thank you to Azil for helping me ask my bridesmaids in a very special way to be part of my bridal party!

If you'd like to download the cards to print out yourself, you can find them below. If you do use them, be sure to tweet/facebook/instagram me a pic!

Three day weekends are like the gift that keeps on giving. Because even though it's back to the daily grind today, it's a short week and the weekend is just around the corner! Hope everyone enjoyed their long weekend. I spent mine throwing a 50 Shades of Grey themed bachelorette party for my BFF (more on that later!), slurping oysters up at Hog Island with friends (where these photos were shot), and looking at wedding venues and wine tasting in Napa.

I'm excited to kick off a fun collab with Stylelend today! 2014 is apparently the year for weddings, and we're going to six, potentially seven, of them this year. While of course I love picking out a new dress for a special occasion, it's probably not necessary to buy a new dress for every single one of these events. With Stylelend, you can rent a beautiful dress for a week (or even rent out your own dresses to earn some extra $$). This long BCBG gown was perfect for Omied's cousin's wedding in LA last weekend. You'll be seeing more of Stylelend's lovely dresses in the coming months on WTFab as I pick out different ones for all the upcoming weddings we're attending. Who doesn't love having a limitless closet full of dresses??

Gilded summer

May 21, 2014

levis

Happy humpday, and happy one month til summer! Summer is hands down my favorite season when it comes to style. Short shorts and dresses are my jam. These cut-off Levis 501 shorts are the epitome of California summer style and I can't wait to slip a pair on for a picnic in the park, day at the beach, or other summer fun. Until then, I'm dreaming up some gold accessories to go with a simple white T, with a pop of bright pink lipstick.

Pina Colada Protein Smoothie

May 20, 2014

This post is part of a social shopper marketing insight campaign with Pollinate Media Group® and Slimfast, but all my opinions are my own. #pmedia #14daystoslim  http://my-disclosur.es/OBsstV

After spending a week in Mexico eating and drinking to my heart's content, I was in major need of a detox. Last week I did a 5-day juice cleanse with some co-workers (the team that juices together, stays together!) and I also wanted to do my usual workouts while on the cleanse, so I added in a protein smoothie once a day. Slimfast has a new, limited addition flavor that also happens to be my favorite alcoholic beverage—pina colada! Here's what I whipped up for my daily shake:

1 bottle Slimfast pina colada
1 cup almond milk
1 cup ice
1 cup chopped mango
1 tablespoon whey (or any preferred) protein powder

I'm feeling lighter and brighter after my cleanse, and I'm thinking I'll continue mixing in Slimfast shakes with my regular diet as I get ready for summer (and for some of the skimpier dresses I have in the back of my closet that rarely make an appearance due to SF's usually foggy weather). By the way, a recent Slimfast survey reveals the prevalence of “Locked Closet Syndrome”—a.k.a the practice of “locking away” clothes that don’t currently fit. They found that 90% of women keep items that don’t currently fit in their closet—14 items on average. I'm definitely a part of that 90%! If you are too, you'll be happy to know that Slimfast is also doing a 14 Days to Slim Challenge Sweepstakes on their Facebook page til May 27th, where two winners will receive  a $5,000 Visa gift card! Besides that lovely incentive, their 14 Days to Slim program is an easy and delicious way to lose up to six pounds in the first 2 weeks. Curious about how the program works? Here's the breakdown:
  • Swap 2 meals daily with a Slimfast protein shake or meal bar.
  • Your third meal must be 500 calories. And if you’re stumped on what to prepare try these recipes!
  • Enjoy three 100-calorie snacks or pieces of fruit per day.
  • Don’t exceed 1200 calories per day.
  • Do 30 minutes of light exercise daily and drink lots of water.

Happy almost summer!

San Francisco style with Target

May 15, 2014

Happy almost Friday, lovelies! I'm so excited to share this fun video I had the pleasure of shooting with Target. Inspired by San Francisco, a few SF bloggers  (myself, Britt and Crystalin) got together to talk about how this amazing city influences our style, while wearing some of our favorite spring Target pieces (you can shop all the pieces I'm wearing, below). I was so excited that I got to shoot in the Mission, since I've pretty much been obsessed with the neighborhood since we moved there two and a half years ago!

Hope you all had a relaxing weekend! Today's outfit post is making me want to go back to Mexico, stat! Just looking at these pictures, I can almost feel the sand in my toes and taste the margaritas (and extra Don Julio shots). The water was so blue, the people were so nice, and I loved using my rusty Spanish (that I thought I had long forgotten after high school) to chat it up with the locals.

Happy Hump Day, lovelies! Today's post is an easy, breezy outfit from a day of wine tasting in Napa. We ended up spending an afternoon at Signorello for their food and wine pairing. I'd never heard of the winery before, but we picked the spot because Omied proposed right by the winery the day before, and hello?? Look at that view! How could we not spend the day there? The infinity pool and sweeping views of the mountains and vineyards were almost too perfect.

P.S. Please excuse my extra rosy complexion in these photos. I was a few tastings in, and I'm a bit of a lightweight
