Wedding Wednesday: The Website

Jan 28, 2015

I'm so excited to share that our wedding website is now live! Shockingly, no one had taken the URL www.eliseandomiedswedding.com, so that's where you can find it. ;) Early on in our engagement, before we had even really begun planning, a sweet co-worker of mine bought me a couple bridal magazines. From one of them, I had torn out a page that highlighted a company called Riley & Grey. The folks at R&G create beautiful wedding website templates that you can customize to make your own gorgeous wedding website. As soon as I saw their templates, I knew I had to have one!

Before I found Riley & Grey I thought that I would design our wedding website, or use a template on wordpress or squarespace. Silly me, I didn't realize how much work goes into a wedding website. We put a ton of info on our site about us as a couple, our bridal party bios, things to do and where to eat around Sacramento, and accommodations. I'm so glad I found R&G, because their CMS (content management system) was so easy to use, and I probably avoided a lot of stress by not having to deal with coming up with a design. Plus R&G's templates are so slick, there's no way I could have beat that myself. Be sure to check it out on your phone and tablet—it's built on responsive design!

Thank you to Riley & Grey for helping me and Omied have a gorgeous wedding website! And if you're a bride-to-be about to build your site, R&G was lovely enough to share a discount code for WTFab readers: MYWEDDING (the first 100 readers to use this code will receive 50% off!).

Cocoon

Jan 26, 2015

Cardigan ~ H&M (similar from Topshop)
Top ~ Zara (similar)
Leggings ~ c/o RuneNYC (similar)
Boots ~ Nine West
Bag ~ Coach
Necklace & bracelet ~ c/o YourBijouxBox

I loooove this cozy cocoon cardigan. Last seen in this outfit post, it's been a repeat offender on the blog, my Insta feed, and lounging around at home. Dress it up or down, it's got that cozy chic vibe that just won't quit. In today's outfit, which I wore over the weekend to brunch with some of my favorite bloggers, I belted it with a thin, navy belt, and I'm digging the effect it has and how it accentuates the waist (see another one of my favorite belting tricks in this outfit post).

After hopping around from NOLA to Austin, and then back to SF to start a new role at Google (that I'm so excited about!), I think all the excitement caught up to me and I came down with a cold at the end of the week. I guess it's that time of year, because it seems like everyone around me has a cold or the flu lately. I'll be nursing myself back to health by going to bed early and drinking lots of OJ. Hope you all take care of yourselves too and give your body the rest it deserves!

Urban Remedy

Jan 25, 2015

Since it's practically February, I think the whole, "New Year, New You!" thing has calmed down a bit—thank goodness. However, I'll be the first to admit that I needed to reset my palate and cravings after a super indulgent holiday season if I had any hopes of getting my healthy eating back on track. Cue Urban Remedy, to the rescue.

Urban Remedy has a great selection of juice cleanses and healthy meal kits that make it super easy to stick to a three day cleanse. I've done juice cleanses in the past, and the worst is when you feel like you don't have enough juices to make it through the day. One time during day three of a five day cleanse, I nearly clawed Omied's face off when he tried to drink my last almond milk of the day. It wasn't pretty. Fortunately, I found that Urban Remedy's Metabolism Kit came with more than enough food/juices to keep me satiated, and I even shared some with Omied.

Their salads were delicious! This shredded kale salad was one of my favs, but I also loved the kale chips as a snack.

I loved doing this metabolism cleanse. It was definitely the easiest cleanse I've ever done, and I looked and felt great afterwards, and managed to shed a couple pounds over three days. How are you guys kickstarting healthy eating in the new year?

MOH

Jan 19, 2015

 Dress ~ Modcloth
Earrings ~ c/o Your Bijoux Box
Bracelet ~ c/o Gorjana
Shoes ~ Steve Madden
Clutch ~ Gift from the bride, similar here

If you were lucky enough to have a long weekend, I hope it was a great one! I'm currently on the flight home from a little tour of The South, where I spent the last week. I joined a few other bloggers to visit New Orleans with their tourism board, and then hopped over to Austin, Texas for a joint bachelor/bachelorette party for some of our friends. It was my first time in both cities and I can't wait to share photos!

We've made a lot of progress as far as wedding planning goes over the last month, and right now I'm narrowing down choices for bridesmaid dresses. While I'm making that decision, I thought I'd share some bridesmaid style from my best friend Kimmy's wedding last year. I was so excited to be her Maid of Honor! From the bachelorette (remember the 50 Shades of Grey bachelorette party we threw for her?), to the shower in Boston, to the teary-eyed speech (my tips for the perfect MOH speech are on mywedding.com), I had an absolute blast being a part of her special day and all the prep involved before the big day. The wedding was beautiful and the Irish-inspired ceremony was so special. The bridal party and bride have all been friends since high school (where we coined the name Fab Five, which Kimmy had sewn into our clutches), and for some reason I've always known that Kim would be the first of us to get married. So happy for the beautiful couple!

Good morning! I'm currently sitting at SFO bright and early, on my way to NOLA with the New Orleans Visitors Bureau! I'll be sharing plenty of photos from the trip on WTFab, but in the meantime you can follow along on Instagram

Today's outfit features one of my new favorite pieces that I scooped at an after Christmas sale. I've been wanting a crisp, white blazer for a while, and finally found the perfect fit at H&M. I do wish it had a button in the front, but I'm pretty sure I can sew a clasp on the inside for when I want to button it up and make it even more fitted. I can tell I'm going to get a lot of wears out of this piece. The anchor graphic tank is from QTee, an online shop that lets you customize the colors and design of your tee. You can also customize shoes and bags, and the process is really easy. I customized the colors of this graphic tank and I love the results!

Sweating for the wedding

Jan 12, 2015

I know at this point, it’s highly unoriginal for me to say that one of my New Year’s Resolutions is to be more fit. But last year, one of my resolutions was to work out more, and that one actually stuck because my goal was to take advantage of Google’s workout classes, and to aim for attending at least three classes a week. At the end of 2014, I’m happy to say that most weeks, I actually achieved that goal. And this year I’m even more motivated to keep up and improve my fitness and health routine, because we’re getting married in exactly eight months! Here are a few pretty things I’m picking up this New Year to keep my workouts fun and keep me smiling while I’m sweating for the wedding…

workout gear

While I think I’ve got my fitness routine pretty lined out, I’ve heard numerous fitness gurus say that your weight is 80% affected by what you eat, and 20% by your workouts and genes. Which means I’ll need to make some changes to my eating habits this year, if my goal is to slim down for the gown (can you tell I’ve been trolling etsy for cheesy bride workout tanks??). I’ve found that having clear goals is a lot more helpful than just telling myself to “eat healthy,” so I’m making it a goal to stay away from carbs and refined sugars as much as possible, and to incorporate lower-cal options into my meals when I can. One easy way that I’m doing this is by adding Progresso™ Light into my meals as a low-cal option, since there are 40 different flavors to choose from, at 100 calories less per serving. While I love soups like corn chowder and French onion, I’ll be reaching for the lightened up versions this year to help me stay on track.

The New Year is helping me get motivated to look and feel my best for our wedding and beyond. What are some tricks you like to use to keep motivated?
