Omied and I spent an afternoon strolling around the botanical gardens in Rio and they were so beautiful! We had one goal when we went to Rio: to see monkeys. Ok, we had lots of goals including exploring all the amazing sights Rio has to offer and getting some R&R in, but monkeys were very, very high on our list. When we finally saw monkeys in the garden I totally played it cool, a.k.a. I freaked out and started jumping around and talking to them like they were little babies. Omied got a shot of this cutie pie monkey that I shared in this post but there were at least 20 hopping, swinging, running, and you know...generally monkeying around. After that we were pretty much like ok, our trip is complete! We can go home now. ;)

The botanical gardens basically looked like FernGully (anyone else remember that movie??) and I kinda felt like a fairy in this pretty Nha Khanh romper (a new-to-me designer whose lacy and feminine pieces I'm loving right now).  And can we talk for a minute about this cinemagraph at the end? It's one of my favorites that Omied and I have shot. :)

Boa Noite! Just a few snaps from our first evening in Rio, where we rode the gondola up to Pão de Açúcar, or Sugarloaf Mountain. It's known for having some of the best views of this tropical city and its harbor, so we went up in time to watch the sunset and stuck around to enjoy the twinkly lights for a beautiful night time view. It was pretty spectacular and a must-do for any trip to Rio.

Behind the scenes with Viridian Bay

Mar 25, 2016

Today I'm so excited to share some behind the scenes shots from an exciting project that Omied and I got to work on together! Over the last few years as Omied has been shooting my outfits and our travels for WTFab, his photography has gotten really good, and I've been encouraging him to start thinking about photography as a side biz. After slowly helping him get a website and Instagram set up (follow us @arvinstudios!), we decided it would be awesome if we could find a way to team up and work together on future photography projects. And so, we've recently launched Arvin Studios, with Omied as our main photographer and me acting as photo stylist and second shooter!

We recently had our first photo shoot gig, and it was so much fun! Viridian Bay hired us to shoot their new, upcoming collection. As the stylist, I got to scout the location, pick out props, and of course style the set. And Omied killed it, shooting an 8 hour day in this beautiful house in the Oakland Hills. It was the perfect setting for this pretty and fun entertainment and garden collection. You can check out the upcoming collection here, and see a few of my favorite pieces (as well as some behind the scenes shots) below!

How pretty are these pieces? My personal favorites are the hose holders (garden hoses never looked so stylish), and the gorgeous bronze vase. The vase was so fun to shoot because we had this perfect little spot of light peeking through the skylight, and with the gold reflector the vase just looked magical. But really, we had such a great time shooting the entire Viridian Bay collection!

P.S. If you're interested in booking Arvin Studios for a project, please shoot us an email: arvin.elise@gmail.com.

Thrifted Lace Top // Milly Skirt // HauteLegs Tights (c/o) // Chanel Bag // Target Heels (c/o) // Forever21 Ring

A couple weekends ago we went to a Roaring 20's themed birthday party (complete with a vague corner location instead of an address, where we had to find a man with a yellow hat and ask him if he was superstitious in order for him to lead us to a hidden speakeasy). As any San Franciscan does, I love a good theme, and I started thinking of outfit options weeks in advance. I felt like wearing feathers for the occasion, and threw in some lace and fishnet tights for good measure. To complete the look I just needed a headpiece. After rummaging through my closet, I found the perfect one—the flower decoration that wraps around a brand new box of Tieks shoes.
